Project Development Manager – Renewable Energy (Solar PV & BESS) (m/f/d) Location: Germany / Europe Employment Type: Full-time Industry: Renewable Energy | Solar PV | Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) About the Role We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Development Manager – Renewable Energy to support the development and expansion of our renewable energy project portfolio across Germany and Europe. In this role, you will be responsible for managing utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects throughout the development lifecycle, from project origination and feasibility assessment to permitting, grid connection, and Ready-to-Build (RTB) status. You will work closely with internal teams, external development partners, landowners, regulatory authorities, grid operators, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution. Key Responsibilities Project Development & Execution Lead and manage renewable energy development projects, with a primary focus on utility-scale Solar PV and BESS. Identify, evaluate, and develop new project opportunities in Germany and selected European markets. Manage the full project development lifecycle, including site identification, feasibility studies, land acquisition, permitting, grid connection, and RTB preparation. Establish and monitor project schedules, budgets, milestones, and development risks. Coordinate technical, commercial, legal, and regulatory activities throughout project development. Permitting, Land & Grid Connection Manage land securing activities, including negotiations with landowners and coordination of lease agreements. Coordinate permitting and approval processes with relevant local and regional authorities. Work closely with grid operators to assess grid connection feasibility and coordinate grid connection applications. Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, environmental, and planning requirements. Stakeholder & Partner Management Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, local authorities, grid operators, engineering consultants, and external development partners. Coordinate external service providers, technical advisors, and project consultants. Support negotiations with project partners and other relevant stakeholders. Commercial & Strategic Support Conduct preliminary project feasibility and commercial assessments. Support project financial evaluations, development cost estimates, and risk assessments. Collaborate with investment, finance, engineering, and legal teams to support project investment decisions. Provide regular project updates and progress reports to senior management. Contribute to the expansion of the company's renewable energy project pipeline across Europe. Your Profile Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field. At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in renewable energy project development, preferably in utility-scale Solar PV and/or BESS. Proven experience managing renewable energy projects through key development milestones, ideally up to Ready-to-Build (RTB) stage. Strong understanding of project permitting, land securing, grid connection procedures, and regulatory requirements in Germany or other European markets. Experience coordinating with local authorities, grid operators, landowners, and external development partners. Good commercial understanding of renewable energy project economics and development risks. Strong project management, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Fluent German and professional English communication skills are required for Germany-focused projects.
