Role Snapshot Title: Forward Deployed Analyst - Sustainability Department: Business Development Location: Malaysia Work mode: Office-based, with client visits and remote flexibility Reports to: Nurul Syaheedah, COO Core focus: Deploy Pantas' agentic sustainability platform into enterprise clients, own their data-to-assurance outcomes, and build the agents that carry the work About Pantas Pantas helps businesses measure, manage, and report their sustainability performance: carbon emissions and ESG together. We're home to the first PCAF-accredited platform in Asia (PCAF: the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials). Now we're building the agentic sustainability platform that runs this work for enterprises. AI agents take the tedious data work off people's plates (collecting, checking, processing) so people can focus on the strategic work. We're a fast-growing climate tech startup founded by three Malaysians with 30+ years of combined experience across finance, consulting, and software. We're backed by top-tier investors from Silicon Valley, the US, Europe, and Southeast Asia, including one of the region's largest conglomerates. Everyone builds. BD, operations and analysts use Claude Code and other AI tools every day, same as our engineers. Our BD team ships agents. Non-technical teammates have built AI agents that now run in production for clients. The CEO teaches, and he codes. Monthly workshops on prompting, agents, MCP and context engineering, open to everyone. The tools are on us. Claude Code, ChatGPT, Gemini and others, paid for. What one person builds, everyone uses. Skills, agents and playbooks are shared across teams, so the whole company gets faster. The Role You deploy Pantas' agentic sustainability platform into enterprise clients and make it work for their reality. You're embedded through discovery, setup, and ongoing delivery, and you own the client's outcomes: credible GHG (greenhouse gas) and ESG (environmental, social, and governance) data, live dashboards, assurance-ready reporting, and framework questions answered with confidence. The platform is your product as much as your tool. You shape the skills, agents, and integrations that carry each client's workload, including automating the work you used to do by hand. As the platform evolves, so does your role. This is a demanding role with a lot of earned flexibility. We trust our people to deliver, and we give them room to do it their way. What You'll Do Your work with every client spans four fronts. Each one feeds the next. Own the client relationship. Be the trusted relationship manager for your enterprise clients. Onboard them, run regular check-ins and working sessions, advise across sustainability frameworks, and grow the business with them as their sustainability practice matures. Lead the implementation. Learn how each client's sustainability processes run. Turn each one into a skill or agent that does the work end to end, configure it to their rules, deploy it, and iterate in production until it runs reliably. Grow the platform. Turn the patterns and gaps you see across clients into new skills and agents. Test them against real cases and ship them into the shared platform so every client benefits. Live at the edge of AI. Keep up with the newest models, tools, and techniques. Test them against real client problems and bring back what works. How you operate Own the outcome. You're accountable for results (environments working, data flowing, dashboards live, packs shipped), not activity. Automate the boring work. If a step is manual today, run it now, then retire it. This is an innovation role, not a grunt-work role. Know how to find any answer. Method over memorization. You build systems that work for you. What You Bring AI every day, already. You use AI daily for study, work, side projects, anything. That's the baseline. Agent-building we'll teach. Agent-builder, not coder. You build with AI. You compose and customize skills and subagents (small AI helpers built for specific jobs), connect tools and systems with MCP (the standard way AI tools plug into other systems), shape the context the AI works from, and work fluently in Claude Code, same as our engineers. Writing code by hand isn't the job. Directing AI to produce it, judging the output, and knowing when it's wrong is. Consultant's head. Enterprise clients arrive with messy asks. You structure them, communicate clearly in writing and in the room, and earn stakeholder trust. Framework fluency, the find-and-build kind. Disclosure frameworks and standards across carbon and ESG: PCAF, GHG Protocol, IFRS S1/S2, Malaysia's National Sustainability Reporting Framework (NSRF), GRI, TNFD, plus sector-specific rules and identifiers such as RSPO, IMO and GLEIF. The bar is finding the authoritative answer and making it repeatable, not reciting standards from memory. Ownership and a nose for efficiency. You run problems to resolution without hand-holding, and a manual, repetitive step makes you want to automate it. Analytical rigor. Comfortable in numbers, spreadsheets, and logic. Assurance-grade work needs someone who catches the discrepancy. A builder by nature. We hire for the tinkering instinct. You take things apart, try tools before they're ready, and build things nobody asked for (yet). Experienced hires are welcome and valued. But in the age of AI, the builder attitude matters more than years logged. Early-career applicants are welcome too. The bar is how you think and build. Nice to have None of these are gates. The builder attitude comes first. But they make you stronger from day one: Prior experience in sustainability, business development, or consulting. Courses or certifications in business, sustainability, or related fields. Leadership experience from work, co-curricular, or volunteer roles. Prior exposure to carbon or ESG topics or climate tech. Self-taught counts. What Success Looks Like First 3 months. Run a client implementation end to end (assessment → setup → verified first collection cycle), and ship your first agent that removes a manual step from your own workflow. 6 months. Carry a client portfolio with light supervision. Agentic outputs go out on your watch, and several agents you built live in the team library. 12 months. Your clients stay and grow with Pantas because of the outcomes. A meaningful share of the role's manual work runs on agents. You're the go-to person for framework answers and agent patterns, and you're teaching them to teammates. Seniority in this role reflects depth and pay, not a different scope. Analysts, seniors, and leads run the same playbook. How We'll Enable You Sustainability and frameworks foundations. Structured onboarding into carbon accounting, ESG, and the frameworks you'll consult on. Platform mastery. How the platform works inside and out: how data flows, gets processed, and becomes client outputs. We build as we grow. Agent-building craft. Hands-on sessions with agentic workflows and tools, plus the CEO's monthly AI workshops. You build agents in your first weeks. Shadowing and mentorship. Co-pilot before you lead, with clients and senior analysts to learn from. Leadership is hands-on in agentic builds and deployments, so you learn from the top, not just middle management. The build mandate. Protected time to automate. You're not expected to run the grind forever. You're expected to kill it. Your value is building agents that do the grunt work, not doing it yourself. Why This Role Matters You'd join where three of the decade's strongest currents meet: AI agents reshaping how enterprise work gets done, sustainability disclosure becoming as rigorous as financial reporting (the IFRS S1/S2 wave), and the shift from voluntary action to regulated compliance. Forward-deployed is where that shift actually lands inside companies. You'd practice it on one of the hardest useful problems there is: making sustainability data credible. Compensation Pay starts from RM4,000 for a fresh graduate with no prior work experience in agent-building or sustainability, and rises with what you bring: your experience, skills, and the outcomes you own.
