EPR Sustainability Manager
About the Company You will help AROS Group forecast EPR fees based on product specifications, understand how PPWR and US state-level requirements affect packaging decisions, and build the operating model that can later support automation around compliance and fee estimation. About the Role As EPR & Sustainability Expert, you will be the internal hands-on specialist responsible for turning packaging compliance requirements into structured, repeatable product data and fee analysis. Responsibilities EPR Fee Modeling & Data Structure Build and maintain a repeatable model for forecasting EPR fees based on product-level packaging specifications, including materials, weights, formats, components, recyclability attributes, recycled content, markets sold into, and applicable producer responsibility schemes. Translate EPR fee schedules, reporting categories, PPWR requirements, and US state-level packaging rules into structured data logic that can be applied consistently across active projects and the existing product portfolio. Define the packaging specification data needed to support compliance analysis and fee forecasting, then work with Product Developers, Key Account Managers, suppliers, and external advisors to close gaps in that data. Product Specification Analysis & Portfolio Audit Read and interpret packaging specifications, drawings, bills of materials, supplier data sheets, material declarations, weights, finishes, coatings, and component-level packaging details to determine how a product should be classified for EPR and sustainability analysis. Audit the existing product portfolio to identify missing specification data, likely EPR fee drivers, products at risk under upcoming requirements, and packaging types that may need redesign or material substitution. Analyze product specifications against regulatory requirements to determine where packaging falls by market, material category, recyclability status, reporting class, and applicable fee logic. Product Development Support & Automation Readiness Serve as an internal expert service for Key Account Managers and Product Developers who need sustainability, EPR, PPWR, or fee-forecasting outputs for client work, while keeping customer-facing ownership with the KAM or Product Developer. Consult on active product designs before specifications are locked, helping teams understand likely fee implications, reporting requirements, material risks, and opportunities to reduce compliance cost or complexity. Turn recurring compliance and fee-analysis work into repeatable templates, data structures, decision rules, and training routines that can ultimately be built into internal tools or automated workflows. Qualifications Packaging engineering background or substantial experience working in the packaging engineering industry, including comfort with product specifications, material composition, component-level packaging data, weights, finishes, supplier documentation, and manufacturing constraints. Required Skills Direct experience with packaging EPR reporting, EPR fee calculation, PPWR readiness, or equivalent packaging compliance work in a company, consultancy, producer responsibility organisation, or packaging-focused advisory role. Ability to read regulatory guidance, fee schedules, and advisor input, then translate them into practical product data requirements, classification logic, fee assumptions, and repeatable analysis workflows. Strong structured data and analytical skills, especially in Excel; SQL, database design, BI tools, or experience preparing data for automation is a significant advantage. Working knowledge of EU packaging compliance requirements, PPWR concepts, and US state-level EPR developments, with the judgment to know when external legal or regulatory advisors need to validate an interpretation. Clear internal communication style: able to support Key Account Managers, Product Developers, and cross-functional teams with precise answers, practical training, and usable decision support. Preferred Skills Experience building fee models, compliance calculators, product classification frameworks, material databases, or reporting logic that connects product specifications to regulatory or commercial outcomes. Experience with luxury packaging, beauty packaging, fashion packaging, secondary packaging, primary packaging, or made-to-order packaging programs where aesthetics, materials, cost, and compliance requirements must be balanced. Familiarity with recycled content claims, recyclability assessments, mono-material conversion, material substitution, FSC or equivalent paper certifications, ISO 9001, EcoVadis, ESG reporting, LCA, or supplier sustainability documentation. Experience preparing packaging data for EPR submissions or coordinating with Producer Responsibility Organizations, consultants, external advisors, or customer compliance teams. Ability to work with Product Developers on tradeoffs between aesthetics, durability, cost, material availability, manufacturability, EPR fee exposure, and sustainability requirements. Comfort using AI-assisted tools and structured research workflows to monitor regulatory updates, summarize advisor input, maintain internal guidance, and accelerate repeatable analysis.
