Sustainability Manager – Solar & Green Housing

Lhoopa · Mandaluyong, National Capital Region, Philippines · On-site · Full-time

There’s a difference between recommending sustainable solutions and making them work across actual homes. We’re looking for someone who can do both. At Lhoopa, we use technology and a network of contractors, brokers, and field partners to make homeownership more accessible. We have delivered more than 7,000 homes across 60+ cities, benefiting more than 32,000 people. Now we want to make sustainability work at the same scale. We’re looking for a Sustainability Manager who can turn solar, energy-efficiency, and green-building ideas into solutions that are technically sound, commercially practical, and affordable enough to work in real housing developments. This is not primarily an ESG reporting role. It is a hands-on project and technical role covering feasibility, design coordination, permitting, installation, energization, turnover, and ongoing performance. What you’ll own Solar PV delivery. You’ll take solar projects from idea to operating system. That includes: Feasibility assessments, load analysis, roof suitability, generation studies, and ROI/payback evaluation Design coordination with engineers, consultants, suppliers, and contractors Procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, energization, and turnover Net-metering applications and utility coordination Project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and implementation milestones Performance monitoring, maintenance, warranties, downtime, and actual energy savings Standardising approaches that can be replicated across multiple housing developments Sustainable housing You’ll work with Planning and Construction teams to determine which sustainability measures genuinely make sense for affordable housing. This may include: Passive cooling and ventilation Water conservation and rainwater harvesting Energy-efficient lighting and appliances Waste-management systems Sustainable materials Lower-carbon construction methods You’ll help develop technical standards and guidelines that can be applied across future projects and evaluate frameworks such as EDGE, BERDE, or LEED where they add practical value. Contractors, utilities, and government coordination A large part of the job happens outside a spreadsheet. You’ll work with EPC contractors, utilities, LGUs, suppliers, consultants, engineers, homeowners, and internal teams to get projects delivered. You’ll also: Facilitate permits, inspections, and utility approvals Evaluate vendors and technical proposals Monitor contractor performance Resolve implementation issues Present recommendations, risks, and project progress to management Innovation that can actually scale We’re interested in new technology, but not for its own sake. You’ll assess solutions such as battery storage, smart metering, energy-monitoring systems, and sustainable building technologies based on four questions: Does it work? What does it cost? Can homeowners benefit from it? Can we repeat it across hundreds or thousands of homes? You’ll also develop pilot programmes, measure results, and recommend which solutions are worth scaling. What we’re looking for You’ll likely have a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering; Architecture; Renewable Energy; Sustainability Management; or a related field , together with around 5+ years of relevant experience . More importantly, we’d like to see evidence that you have taken projects beyond the proposal stage. You should be comfortable with: Solar PV or renewable-energy project delivery Construction or technical project management Contractors, suppliers, utilities, and government permitting Technical documentation and project coordination Budgets, schedules, vendor evaluation, and quality requirements Solving implementation problems on the ground Presenting technical recommendations clearly to non-technical stakeholders You should also be willing to stay close to execution and visit project sites when required. Helpful, but not essential Experience in any of these areas would be useful: Licensed Engineer or Architect Solar PV design or installation certification EDGE, BERDE, LEED, or similar accreditation Residential development or affordable housing Battery storage or smart metering Energy-performance monitoring Why this role matters Sustainable housing should not be something only premium developments can afford. The harder challenge is finding solutions that improve environmental performance while still working within the economics of affordable housing. That means making trade-offs. Testing assumptions. Understanding actual energy savings. Knowing when a technology is worth scaling — and when it isn’t. If you’ve already taken solar, renewable-energy, or sustainable-building projects from planning into real-world implementation , and you’d like to apply that experience to housing at scale, we should talk.
